DocumentJS works via the Node.js command-line and allows developers to create documentation sites without having to do a double chore of writing comments in their code and then explaining it later in a separate HTML file. The documentation site is created using the source code comments themselves, all automatically if the developers follow simple code comments formatting rules. DocumentJS supports simple structures and Markdown syntax, along with the ability to create versioned documentation, working in sync with the code’s version control history. In case the code comments take up too much space in your source, they can be exported to a separate Markdown file and then tied back to the original code using simple markers. This latter feature works great for larger projects where more than one person works on the code and more in-depth details are needed for each function, method, or parameter. DocumentJS was developed to be part of the JavaScript framework – JavaScriptMVC.
